While we were in Sussex I was eager to see Richard Wilson's installation, Hang On A Minute Lads, I've Got A Great Idea... at Bexhill-on-Sea's De La Warr Pavilion.
Balancing precariously on the Pavilion's rooftop is a full-size replica of the coach that famously hangs over the edge of a cliff at the end of The Italian Job (the title of the work is taken from Michael Caine's lines in the same scene).
It's certainly impressive. The coach gently rises up... and down... always threatening to topple over but always stabilising just when you think it could go. While we were there on a scorching July afternoon a steady stream of daytrippers gazed intently and took photographs, often apparently not sure what to make of it. To be honest, the beach round the other side of the Pavilion was proving far more of a draw and, sure enough, that's where we headed shortly after the above video was shot.
