back to the bakery

Lyme Regis. Home of the wonderful Town Mill Bakery (first visited and blogged about here and hopefully opening in Bristol soon). We were in Somerset last Saturday morning wondering where to spend the sunny day and it turned out we were only an hour's drive from Lyme, so that's where we headed. It was great being by the sea again - first thing I noticed as we reached the seafront was the salty air. How I miss it. We had a late-morning coffee at the Town Mill Bakery before walking along the prom to the Cobb and then back again. Lots of people about, beautiful sunshine, salty air - a perfect spring day by the seaside.

apologies Brighton

Apologies to folks back in Brighton who I never got a chance to meet up with this week. It was a shorter trip than originally planned and most of my one day back in the city was spent visiting my grandad who's recovering from an operation he had early in the new year. That was Wednesday. Brighton was looking great in the sunshine, buzzing as ever. I particularly liked the new map/signposts on Queens Road (should've taken a photo). Had an amazing fish finger sandwich in Bill's: nice thick bread, tartare sauce, decent fish fingers, ketchup and rocket. Glad that place is still around. Then Woodingdean for the afternoon, back to the house that holds many fond memories and used to entertain the whole family (aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, parents) but now so quiet, just my grandad left. Had a weird trip back into town on a #2 bus (noisy, chaotic) and by then cloud had replaced the sunshine and I could feel myself going down with something. Next day (yesterday) felt ill, coldy and drained, so got the earliest train back to Bristol. Two changes and 6 hours later I was back and went straight to bed. So sorry I missed everybody down there except S&H (although it's been energising to hook up with several old friends who've made it to these parts recently). I'll be back soon to catch up when it's warmer and when I've finally got over this string of colds that have laid me low for over a month now. Despite the horrendous train journey I think more frequent trips are in order...

In the meantime, even if you've never been there, even if you don't know where it is, please help save Saltdean Lido...

8001050F-ed

Owners of the original 'chunky' PlayStation 3s have woken to find their consoles have been rendered nothing more than expensive doorstops overnight.

Er, that'll be me then.

I powered up for a Heavy Rain session this afternoon (2 days in and it's absolutely gripping) to be confronted with an ominous 8001050F error message telling me the game cannot load. Turns out it's a problem with the system clock - switching to March 1st seems to have thrown millions of PS3s across the world into a spin. Sony are working on a fix. Meanwhile, the now-infamous 8001050F already has it's own Facebook page...

morning fog

Today provided another one of those foggy mornings where the Suspension Bridge just seemed to disappear...
