autumnal colours
A few weeks ago we spent a sunny Saturday morning at Westonbirt Arboretum in Gloucestershire. The weather was perfect for capturing some of the beautiful autumnal colours...

never sell your love
I was saddened last week to see David Hieatt, founder of Howies, quit the company he formed with his wife Clare back in 1995. Back then they produced a few t-shirts from the living room of their London flat but over the next few years Howies grew and, following a move to Wales in 2001, settled into its first office/warehouse on a Cardigan industrial estate. But despite attracting a loyal customer base the pair were forced to remortgage their house twice to keep the company afloat. Then in 2006 they sold Howies to US outdoor clothing giant Timberland. Since then stores have opened in London and Bristol but the relationship has evidently been strained. In his final blog post David says, "The morale of the story is simple. If you find something you love, you should never sell your love. When other people own your dream, destiny is no longer in your hands." For the past five years or so I've been inspired by David's words on the Howies blog and in the beautifully-produced and thought-provoking catalogue. So, for old time's sake, here's one of many articles that struck a chord with me...Find your love
You know that dream you carry around with you each day?
It's kinda important.
Wasn't it what you were put on planet earth to do?
They say everyone has a calling, can you still hear it?
Doesn't it eat away at you? That treadmill you are on, did it ever get too much?
Did you ever wonder what it would be like to do your thing?
Did you ever feel time was passing you by?
Just how many days have you left before your last?
Did you ever wonder about stuff like that?
Did you ask yourself 'what was stopping you?'
There is never a right time.
You will be too old. Too young. Too something or other.
When was the last time you took a risk?
Did you remember how alive it made you feel?
There are no guarantees of success.
It's not called a leap of faith for nothing.
It's not too late, honest.
Jump.
You might fall.
You might fly.
