Once again I seem to have let this blog slip a bit (if anybody still reads this I apologise!).
M and I have been travelling between Bournemouth and Brighton to see each other pretty much every other week this year. But just as we were getting into a routine, over the course of a few weeks M applied for - and after an interview was offered - a job in Bristol. She moves at the end of May...
Travelling by train to Bournemouth is not too bad. I read. I watch DiggNation or Rocketboom on my iPod. I stare out the window if it's light. The Sunday return journey is usually longer because there are always engineering works along the coast, so I usually have to go via London's Clapham Junction... which takes hours. Bristol will add an hour or so onto the usual two and a half hours I guess.
Change is good. It throws up new opportunities. It throws up new things to see and do. It throws up the unexpected. I'm looking forward to it: I've visited Brizzle a few times and, as I've mentioned before on this blog, I've loved what I've seen of the city and would move there like a rocket given the opportunity - though I realise, as with anywhere, it has its problems. Over the years numerous people I've known or bumped into have said how they've enjoyed visiting or living there. To get in the spirit I pored over an interesting book called the Naked Guide to Bristol over the weekend and learned all kinds of stuff about the city that I can't remember now. We've both been researching different areas and making tentative little plans about what we can do there when, hopefully, sometime in the future, we can finally be together... and annoyances like weekend rail engineering works will be a distant memory...
